David Solbach’s story

is not one of hard luck overcome, of a pilgrim battling sexism, racism, or addiction, of loneliness in search of love.  His is rather the story of a white boy with the great good fortune of race, sex, and place, luck which followed him for most of his life, for which he is profoundly thankful, and uncomfortably aware that many of his contemporaries did not share his fate. He has concluded that monotheism is harmful misinformation, and that understanding is more important than love. He is now a retired carpenter and jazz musician who tends goats on several acres of Western Oregon rainforest. Other books by him include three novels: Stonepacker’s Gold, So Glad I’m Glad I’m Glad, and Delbert Willamette: A Cautionary Tale. He has also published a book of poems titled Painted Toes and Other Mistakes, which can be heard at soundcloud.com/davidsolbach.
